Abstract

In previous research, kirinyuh leaf extract was developed into a gel formulation as an alternative form that is easier to use. The purpose of this study is to formulate Chromolaena odorata leaf extract into a gel, and to evaluate the physical properties of the gel as well as its wound-healing efficacy at various extract concentrations.. F0 without extract, F1 with 5% extract, F2 with 10% extract, and F3 with 15% extract were the four formulations that were created. The formulations organoleptic qualities, homogeneity, spreadability, pH, viscosity, and physical stability were assessed. 24 male Wistar rats with incision wounds seen on days 1, 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, and 21 had their wound-healing activity evaluated. Every formulation had the same spreadability (5–7 cm), pH (4.0–6.0), and viscosity (5,600–10,400 cPs). The formulations remained physically stable during testing. F3 showed the fastest wound reduction, reaching 0.45 cm on day 12 and complete closure on day 18. The gel containing Chromolaena odorata L. leaf extract met the physical quality requirements based on organoleptic properties, homogeneity, pH, spreadability, viscosity, and cycling test, with the preparations remaining homogeneous and stable. Formula F3, containing 15% leaf extract, demonstrated the most effective wound-healing activity, achieving complete wound closure on day 18.
