Kriteria Pengarangan (Authorship Criteria)

Jurnal Ilmiah Kebidanan Imelda (JIKEBI) upholds the integrity of scholarly publishing. Authorship confers academic credit and also carries responsibility and accountability for the published work. Therefore, JIKEBI follows the recommendations of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), the CRediT (Contributor Roles Taxonomy) framework, and the guidance of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

1. Requirements for Authorship

An individual may be listed as an author only if they meet all four of the following criteria:

  1. Made a substantial contribution to the conception or design of the study, or to the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data.
  2. Drafted the manuscript or revised it critically for important intellectual content.
  3. Gave final approval of the version to be published.
  4. Agreed to be accountable for all aspects of the work, including ensuring that questions related to its accuracy or integrity are appropriately investigated and resolved.

Everyone who meets all four criteria must be listed as an author. Individuals who do not meet all four criteria should not be listed as authors.

2. Contributions That Do Not Qualify for Authorship

The following contributions do not, on their own, justify authorship. With their consent, such contributors may be acknowledged in the Acknowledgments section:

  • Routine technical, administrative, or laboratory assistance.
  • Provision of funding, facilities, or research materials.
  • Holding a position, such as department head, dean, or laboratory head, without making a genuine intellectual contribution to the research.

3. Unacceptable Authorship Practices

JIKEBI does not tolerate the following unethical authorship practices:

  • Ghost authorship: omitting individuals who meet the authorship criteria.
  • Gift or guest authorship: listing individuals who have not made a genuine contribution to the research.
  • Authorship trading: buying, selling, or trading authorship positions in a scholarly publication.

4. Corresponding Author

The corresponding author must be marked with an asterisk (*) in the manuscript and must provide an active telephone/WhatsApp number and a valid email address. The corresponding author is responsible for:

  • Communicating with the journal during manuscript submission, peer review, and after publication.
  • Ensuring that all listed authors meet the authorship criteria, have approved the final version of the manuscript, and have agreed on the order of authors.
  • Submitting the manuscript through the journal's Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform in accordance with JIKEBI's author guidelines.

5. Author Contribution Statement

Every manuscript submitted to JIKEBI must include an Author Contribution Statement based on the CRediT taxonomy. The statement must use each author's initials and clearly describe their respective contributions.

Example:

  • ZS: Conceptualization and Methodology.
  • PS: Writing – Original Draft Preparation.
  • SQ: Writing – Review and Editing.

6. Changes to the Author List or Author Order

Requests to add, remove, or change the order of authors after manuscript submission must meet the following requirements:

  • The request must be submitted in writing by the corresponding author to the Editor-in-Chief, accompanied by a clear justification.
  • Written approval must be obtained from all authors, including any author who is to be removed.
  • An updated Author Contribution Statement must be provided.

JIKEBI reserves the right to delay publication until all required documents and approvals have been received.

7. Authorship Disputes

Determining who qualifies as an author is the collective responsibility of the authors, not the journal. If an authorship dispute arises, the Editorial Board may request clarification from the institution(s) with which the authors are affiliated. Such disputes will be handled in accordance with COPE guidelines.

8. Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) Tools

Artificial intelligence (AI) tools cannot be listed as authors because they cannot take responsibility or accountability for scholarly work. Any use of AI tools in preparing a manuscript must be transparently disclosed in accordance with the journal's applicable policies. Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, integrity, and content of their manuscripts, including verifying any AI-generated information and references.
