Anemia during pregnancy remains a major public health concern because it contributes to adverse maternal and neonatal outcomes. One potential intervention for improving hemoglobin levels is the combined consumption of green spinach and iron (Fe) tablets. This present study investigated the effectiveness of combining green spinach consumption with iron (fe) tablet supplementation in improving hemoglobin levels among pregnant women with anemia. The investigation was carried out using a quantitative quasi-experimental design consisting of two groups assessed before and after the intervention. Forty pregnant women with anemia were recruited and equally allocated to two groups. Participants assigned to the intervention group consumed green spinach together with iron (Fe) tablets for a 14-day intervention period, whereas participants in the control group received only iron (Fe) tablets during the same period. Baseline and post-intervention hemoglobin concentrations were determined using a digital hemoglobin analyzer. Differences in changes in hemoglobin levels across the two study groups were evaluated using the Mann-Whitney U test. The intervention group demonstrated a mean increase in hemoglobin concentration of 2.56 g/dL, whereas the control group showed a man increase of 0.78 g/dL. Comparative analysis revealed that this difference was statistically significant according to the Mann-Whitney U test (p<0.05). The findings indicate that supplementation with green spinach in combination with iron (Fe) tablets significantly improves hemoglobin concentrations among anemic women throughout gestation and my be considered a complementary nutritional intervention for preventing and managing anemia during gestation.
