Authors must identify specific research gaps based on relevant scientific literature and explain how this study addresses those gaps. The research objective must be clearly stated and logically connected to the identified research problem. The Introduction must demonstrate the relevance and potential contribution of the study to nursing science or related disciplines. Subheadings are not permitted within the Introduction section in this template.

6.2. Methods

The Methods section must describe the research design, materials, equipment, experimental procedures, ethical considerations, and data analysis techniques in sufficient detail to allow replication.

This section should begin by identifying the research design, followed by an organized description of the procedures used to execute the research.

Equipment and Materials: Authors must provide detailed information regarding specialized equipment, including manufacturers, brands, models, technical specifications, distributors, and country of origin. General laboratory equipment need not be detailed individually unless essential to understanding the research procedure. Research materials must be identified by grade, specifications, brand, and supplier. For studies involving animal models, authors must report relevant characteristics, including sex, strain, age, mean body weight, and standard deviation. For studies involving medicinal plants or plant-derived materials, authors must specify the source, plant parts used, plant age, harvest time, and supplier information where applicable.

Research Procedures: Research procedures must outline the experimental workflow, data collection methods, and critical research stages. Authors may organize complex procedures into numbered subsections and include diagrams or flowcharts if necessary to enhance clarity.

Ethical Approval: Studies involving human participants or animal models must include an ethical approval statement from an authorized institutional ethics committee. The statement must mention the name of the approving committee and the relevant approval reference number.

Data Analysis: Authors must describe the methods used to process and analyze research data. New analysis methods must be explained in sufficient detail, including relevant mathematical formulas or equations. Equations should be numbered sequentially.

6.3. Results and Discussion

Results and Discussion must be presented as a single combined section. Authors should systematically describe their findings, interpret the scientific meaning of these results, and compare their observations with relevant prior research.

The discussion should identify similarities and differences between current findings and existing scientific evidence. Authors must explain the significance, relevance, and scientific contribution of these findings without drawing conclusions unsupported by the research data. For extensive content, unnumbered sub-sections and numbered sub-sub-sections may be used to improve readability. Mathematical, chemical, and other equations must be numbered sequentially.

6.4. Research Limitations

The manuscript should explain key limitations that may affect the interpretation or generalizability of the findings. The template indicates that limitations may be included as the final paragraph of the Results and Discussion section.

Relevant limitations may include methodological constraints, sample size, data availability, potential bias, and generalizability restrictions. Authors should describe limitations objectively, avoid overstated conclusions, and identify potential directions for future research where appropriate.

6.5. Conclusion

The Conclusion must be written in a single paragraph without numbering or bullet points. The conclusion must address the research objectives directly and provide a concise synthesis of the main findings.

Rather than merely repeating research results, the conclusion should emphasize the research significance, scientific implications, potential applications, and opportunities for further investigation. All conclusions must remain consistent with the evidence presented in the manuscript.

7. Tables, Figures, Graphs, and Equations

7.1. Tables

Tables must be prepared using table formatting tools available in Microsoft Word. Each table must have a descriptive title placed above the table and be numbered sequentially using Arabic numerals, such as Table 1, Table 2, and Table 3.

Tables must use single line spacing and justified alignment as specified in the template. Authors should place tables close to the relevant discussion and explicitly cite every table in the manuscript text. Table titles exceeding one line must use justified alignment. Tables must present data clearly and consistently, including explanations of relevant abbreviations and symbols where necessary.

7.2. Figures, Graphs, and Images

Manuscripts may include scientific figures, experimental photos, graphs, chemical structures, diagrams, and schematic illustrations. Accepted image formats include: JPG, JPEG, BMP, TIFF, PNG, and EPS.

Photos must have a minimum resolution of 300 dpi, whereas line drawings and diagrams must have a minimum resolution of 600 dpi. All visual elements must use the RGB color model.

Figures should be centered within the manuscript text area and placed adjacent to the relevant discussion. Each figure must include a descriptive caption below the image and be numbered sequentially using Arabic numerals. Figure captions use single line spacing and justified alignment if longer than one line. Every figure must be cited within the main text. The combined number of tables and figures must not exceed 8 (eight).

8. Funding Statement

Authors must disclose all financial support received for conducting the research or preparing the manuscript. The funding statement must identify the funding agency or organization and provide grant numbers where applicable.

If the study received no external funding, authors must explicitly state: "This research received no external funding." The funding statement must be presented as a paragraph and follow standard manuscript formatting requirements.

9. Acknowledgments

The Acknowledgments section recognizes individuals, institutions, or organizations that supported the research but do not meet authorship criteria. Acknowledgments may include technical assistance, administrative support, institutional backing, or contributions from other individuals involved in the study.

Authors may also acknowledge conferences or scientific forums where earlier versions of the research were presented. Individuals named in the acknowledgments must have given their permission.

10. Author Contributions Statement

Authors must provide a clear description of their individual contributions to the research and manuscript preparation. The template requires the use of the Contributor Roles Taxonomy (CRediT) to identify the specific responsibilities of each author.

Relevant contribution categories include conceptualization, methodology, investigation, software, validation, data curation, visualization, supervision, original draft preparation, and manuscript review and editing. Authors must use name initials to identify individual contributions and ensure that every listed author meets applicable authorship criteria. This statement promotes transparency and accountability regarding individual contributions to published research.

11. Conflict of Interest Declaration

All authors must disclose potential conflicts of interest related to the research or manuscript content. Declarations must clearly indicate whether financial, professional, institutional, or other relevant interests could influence the research or its interpretation.

If no conflicts of interest exist, authors must state: "The authors declare no conflict of interest." Any existing conflict must be transparently disclosed.

12. References and Citation Requirements

All submitted manuscripts must strictly adhere to the journal reference and citation requirements. The template designates the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) referencing style as the required standard.

In-text citations must use sequential numbers presented in superscript format. The reference list must contain a minimum of 15 sources and meet the following criteria:

Reference Requirement Minimum Standard
Total references 15 sources
Primary literature (Journals, theses, patents) 40%
References published within the last 5 years 40%
References from international journals 20%
Citation style IEEE
In-text citation format Superscript numbering
Reference manager Mendeley
DOI Mandatory where available

Authors should prioritize scientifically valid, credible, and traceable references. Authors must avoid personal communications, newspapers, magazines, anonymous sources, non-scientific websites, and indirect citations. All references must be managed using appropriate reference management software (such as Mendeley) to ensure consistent formatting and accurate bibliographic information. The reference list uses Times New Roman 10 pt font with single line spacing.

13. Manuscript Submission

Authors must prepare their manuscripts using the official JIKI template and ensure that all required sections, formatting specifications, scientific reporting standards, and publication declarations are completed prior to submission.

Authors are strongly encouraged to review their manuscripts carefully before submission to ensure compliance with the template and all applicable journal guidelines.

14. Additional Editorial Clarifications

Several elements within the template require confirmation and alignment before treating the document as final publication guidance:

  • The template identifies the manuscript category as Original Article, while abstract instructions also refer to review articles. Specific structural requirements for review articles need to be detailed separately.
  • Journal name abbreviations in citation examples should consistently use the official abbreviation "JIKI".
  • Publication year indicators in copyright and page footers should be updated consistently according to the active publication period.
  • Regarding research limitations, the template provides a standalone "Research Limitations" heading while also allowing the option to embed it as the final paragraph of the Results and Discussion section.

15. Closing Remarks

The JIKI manuscript template provides a structured framework for preparing scientific articles that meet the technical and academic standards of the journal. By adhering to this template, authors ensure consistency in article organization, research reporting, data presentation, authorship declarations, and reference formatting.

Compliance with these guidelines enhances manuscript readability, editorial efficiency, transparency, and the overall quality of scientific publications in nursing science and related fields. All prospective authors are required to consult the official template and Author Guidelines prior to submitting their manuscripts.
